About Our Mission

One Step Beyond was founded to give people with physical disabilities an opportunity to experience the freedom of movement and competition through frame running. We meet regularly for training sessions and take part in events across the UK.

We believe sport should be fun, inclusive and empowering. Our volunteer coaches and helpers are passionate about creating a welcoming atmosphere where everyone can achieve their personal goals.

🚧 We're getting ready to launch! We're just waiting on final access to Kings Park Athletics Stadium before our first sessions can begin. Register your interest below and we'll email you the moment dates are confirmed — no commitment, no experience needed.

We welcome children, teenagers and adults of all abilities. You don’t need any experience — just an interest in trying frame running! We have frames available for new members to try at sessions.

How it will work:

🎮 While You Wait...

Have a go at Frame Dash, a fan-made endless runner starring a frame runner — dodge hurdles, duck the bunting, and collect frame tokens.

Our Founder

Learn more about the person who started One Step Beyond and their journey in promoting inclusive frame running.

James is a passionate athlete with cerebral palsy who has discovered the life-changing freedom of frame running. What started as a new sport quickly became a passion, giving him the opportunity to improve his fitness, build confidence, compete, and experience the joy of running in a way that once seemed impossible.

When he's not organising sessions for the club, James is out on the frame himself too — pictured here racing for the Southern Scorpions at the School Games. Days like that are where his own love of the sport comes through, and it's that same feeling of speed and freedom he's building One Step Beyond to share with everyone who joins.

James has also raced further afield — competing at the Frame Running Camp & Cup in Copenhagen, the international event the sport itself grew up around. Standing on the start line alongside athletes from more than a dozen countries is what convinced him frame running needed to exist back home too, and it's a big part of why One Step Beyond exists today. Inspired by his own journey, James is now working to establish an inclusive frame running club where children, young people, and adults of all abilities can enjoy the same opportunities. His vision is to create a welcoming, supportive community where everyone feels encouraged to take part, make new friends, improve their physical and mental wellbeing, and achieve goals they never thought possible. The club will provide access to specialist frame running equipment, qualified coaching, and regular training sessions, allowing people with mobility challenges to experience the excitement and freedom of movement. Whether someone wants to exercise for fun, improve their health, or compete in athletics, the club will offer a place where everyone is valued and supported. James is currently raising funds to help purchase additional running frames, equipment, coaching, venue hire, and other essential resources needed to grow the club. Every donation will help make frame running accessible to more people, giving them the chance to experience the independence, confidence, and enjoyment that the sport can bring. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the amazing frame running community, we have already been loaned four frame running frames to help us get started. Their kindness and support have given us a fantastic foundation, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped us take these first exciting steps. With continued support, James hopes to inspire more people to discover frame running, prove that barriers can be overcome, and build a lasting club that changes lives for years to come.
